Tips on Decorating a Christmas Tree Tips on Decorating a Christmas Tree 1. Tip 1 - Location! Location! Move the tree to its desired location. Make sure you move the tree before you trim and decorate! 2. Tip 2 - Power! Check that there is an electrical outlet nearby so lights can be plugged in easily. 3. Tip 3 - Trim any 'debris'! Cut off any branches that have completely lost their needles in transit. Remove any broken or damaged branches. 4. Tip 4 - Make sure the tree's secure! Place your Xmas Tree firmly into its stand or base. 5. Tip 5 - Get the shape looking right! Gently ease and spread out the branches to reveal the tree's shape. 6. Tip 6 - Get prepared for Decorating! Sort out all your ornaments from last year. Add some new or homemade tree decorations! 7. Tip 7 - The Bulb's Gone! Test all lights before you begin and replace any faulty bulbs or light sets. 8. Tip 8 - Decorate from the top! Starting at the top, add the lights working your way around the tree to the bottom. 9. Tip 9 - Add Garlands, beads or tinsel beginning at the back of the tree so joints cannot be seen easily. 10. Tip 10 - Hang ornaments ensuring the heaviest ones are hung from the thicker branches and the larger ornaments are placed towards the bottom. Hang smaller, lighter ornaments at the top. 11. Tip 11 - Take a step back and look for any gaps or areas that have been over or under decorated. 12. Tip 12 - Trim with a Tree-topper - Add an Angel or a Star to the top of the tree. Be careful and use ladders if you need to. 13. Tip 13 - Clean up any fallen needles or tinsel. Fill up the water reservoir and attach a tree skirt to cover up the base. Why not make your own skirt?
